This social network designed specifically for grassroots activism uses social network software similar to Facebook, MySpace, or Twitter, but doesn’t ask all those questions that have led to privacy issues. Since it has a grassroots focus, it will help people to find other people interested in issues activism and political activism. Users are able to create groups, join groups, add friends, and stay in contact with friends, as they do with other social networking sites.

The site will be run entirely by grassroot volunteers, and is not set up to the advantage of any political party or lobby.

The site was developed on another server then moved to it’s new permanent home on August 1,2010.

You can be part of the Activism! Grassroot is accepting articles and news and opinions written by everyday people. If you contribute often, and want your own section of this site let us know. The system administrator can be reached through the contact page at the main Grassroots USA site.

If you are organizing an event, such as a protest march, please send announcements to us also. As with the writers, if you frequently organize events you might want to become a regular contributor.

One other thing that we are excited about is that we have developed a terrific social networking site and will be moving it to it’s permanent location sometime this week. It is like Facebook, but will not have all the privacy issues and members and groups will be able to be located by area code.
