In the late 1990’s, energy company executives approached the people of North Carolina and the people of Cape Hatteras about offshore drilling. NC citizens kicked them out. What happened was North Carolina used their authority as a sovereign republic protecting its’ fishing grounds by refusing to authorize the permits to the wealthy few. Now, it looks like NC may have to help the folks of Hatteras, and kick the energy barons out again!
Just because the Bush administration has made conditions ripe to send people into an energy panic, does not justify giving in to the power brokers which have brought us into an era of martial law, checkpoints, inflation, widespread foreclosures, and surrender of our privacy rights. President Bush loaded up the cabinet with cronies from the energy field. These are people who make billions off of selling you fossil fuels. If you were conned into believing they are interested in developing a responsible federal energy program, which includes progressive plans for turning to more renewable energy sources, consider what President Bush and cronies have actually developed in America.
What is the first word you think of when you hear the name President George W. Bush? For many it is WAR. Other words people come up with are terror, panic, scandals, corruption, incompetent, spying, and division. Harsher critics even use words like treason, tyranny, dictator, and totalitarian. People who are concerned about the environment use terms such as “the dirty air President”. What are the last words you associate with the name George W. Bush? Innovation? Inspiring? Hope? Hardly.
At the federal level, America needs a President and Congress that inspire hope through innovation. Men like John Howe, (above) a retired engineer who has worked solar energy projects, should be giving America plenty of hope. At the state level, North Carolina should be looking into becoming a world-wide leader in the development of cutting edge solar photovoltaics, and innovative energy conversion and energy generation technologies.
MORE HOPE FOR THE FUTURE IS NEEDED. INSPIRATION SHOULD COME FROM OUR NATIONAL AND STATE LEADERS. LEADERSHIP HAS BEEN IN SHORT SUPPLY IN WASHINGTON, REPLACED BY FEAR AND PANIC, AT THE INSISTENCE OF FOSSIL FUEL ENERGY BARONS. RALEIGH LEADERS NEED THE BRAVADO TO LEAD. HERE ARE MORE EXAMPLES OF PRODUCTS THAT NC COULD LEAD THE WAY IN MANUFACTURING, RESEARCH, AND DEVELOPMENT. THESE KINDS OF SOLUTIONS ARE NEEDED AROUND THE WORLD. LET’S SOLVE TWO PROBLEMS AT ONCE BY MAKING RENEWABLE ENERGY PRODUCTS RIGHT HERE, IN NORTH CAROLINA!
