Jan MacKay, candidate for NC Senate in North Raleigh and Wake Forest, is perhaps one of the most interesting candidates for the entire North Carolina General Assembly in 2008. Her opponents are both men from mostly Republican backgrounds; Chris Mintz and Neal Hunt. Chris Mintz is the former chairman of the Wake County Republican Mens Club. Neal Hunt is the Republican incumbent senator.
Yes, you read that correctly. Both her opponents are from a mostly conservative Republican background. Jan is the only candidate from a lifelong independent (voting almost entirely for Democrats) background.
Both candidates from the Republican conservative background have tens of thousands of dollars, perhaps hundreds of thousands, to campaign with. The incumbent senator will run lots of television ads, and thinks the supposed democrat will be receiving lots of monetary support. Regardless, working class candidate Jan MacKay is electable with your help, and sees recently self-described conservative Chris Mintz as a spoiler candidate who will split the conservative votes with the incumbent senator.
North Carolina has lost too many manufacturing jobs. Jan MacKay has expertise in manufacturing, while the other candidates come from real etate developer and financier backgrounds. Those backgrounds are easy to find in the NC legislature, but it is extremely rare for legislators to have an expert understanding of manufacturing which can help bring manufacturing jobs to NC. Manufacturing insight could prove extremely valuable to North Carolinas’ economic future!
Jan is depending entirely on word of mouth, visiting with groups of people, and, so far, has the best internet popularity rankings. She refuses lobbyist and PAC money, and insists she will survive only on the measley salary of $20,659. Corruption by the NC legislature could be eradicated if all candidates and legislators made the same pledge. If legislative corruption were eradicated, and pork spending on pet projects were obliterated, North Carolina could save millions of dollars every year.
As a Senate Candidate, Jan refers to herself as a centrist Libertarian and until July 2008, a lifelong independent (always spending lots of time to research the candidates and issues, and almost always voting Democrat).
Jan is separated idealogically from the politics of both the left and the right. She strongly believes in principles: smaller government, less taxes, and more freedom. She believes strongly in gun owner rights, property rights, and privacy rights. Her opposition to a safety nanny state and overbearing government has forced her to become a candidate for NC Senate. She cannot sit idly by and watch Americans and Carolinians lose their freedoms as their rights are whittled away by government. As such, she has a more moderate view than the politics at the far left extreme.
NC Senate candidate MacKay believes the conservative far right is wrong when they seek to pass laws like DOMA which categorically deny equal rights. Jan strongly believes in separation of church and state as necessary for freedom of religion, and unbiased, true equality. Jan believes in fighting against all attempts by the state to assume any power to discriminate against you due to your gender, race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic class, the neighborhood you live in, or the vehicle you operate. Elections are your best opportunity to lawfully and peacefully fight back and demand your God-given equality !
Jan MacKay invites all who love freedom to take a stand with her, not only during this election cycle, but also after the elections. Vow to yourself to stay involved. Never give up on the principles you hold dear. Together, we will take back our government and restore it to the proud constitutional republic envisioned by our nations founders.
NC Senate Candidate Jan MacKay is from the working class. She is a 12th generation American, military veteran, business owner, and has had high-paying white collar jobs as a manufacturing expert, top-notch computer systems analyst, and business consultant. She has had blue collar jobs, and has had her share of minimum wage jobs, and jobs with less than a living wage. She knows what it is like to work hard for a living, and will continue to work hard.
Perhaps you are of the same spirit as senate candidate MacKay and refuse to ever give up on America. If so, please pass the word to your friends to elect Jan MacKay as your next Raleigh and Wake Forest Senator. Jan is electable and this can happen, despite big money interests, but only with your support!
NC Senate candidate MacKay hopes for voter support from democrats who cannot elect a self-described conservative, unaffiliated voters who are independent, libertarians, greens, as well as moderate republicans upset with the status quo.
