Senate Candidate Video

The politics to the left want to HELP individuals lead moral lives.

In the current two-party system, something is seriously missing!

The politics to the right want to MAKE individuals lead moral lives.

Where are the politics that LET individuals live their lives?

Jan MacKay: The Candidate of Principle
Smaller Government, Lower Taxes, More Freedom

NORML reports 872,721 marijuana arrests in 2007, up 5.2% from 2006,
The US is closing in on a MILLION arrests per year. It is time we stop sending people to prison for simple possession!

FREE THE PRISONS OF NON-CRIMINALS WHOSE ONLY “CRIME” WAS TO GET CAUGHT SMOKING SOME POT OR POSSESSION OF QUANTITY NOT MORE THAN 100 GRAMS.

EVEN LAW ENFORCEMENT AGREES. See Law Enforcers Against Prohibition.

At the National Level, tell Congress to Pass HR 5483.
In Wake County, VOTE FOR JAN MACKAY to introduce and push for bills that no longer put SMALL-TIME pot smokers in the BIG HOUSE.
Everyone who says they support smaller government should also support the decriminalization of marijuana, and the promotion of laws which do not seek to absolutely ruin a persons life, but instead laws which will put marijuana control on the same level as alcohol control. The resources of government being used to go after this victimless activity are enormous.

Jan does not advocate drug abuse of any kind, but does support the decriminalization marijuana in amounts up to 100 grams, which is about 3.5 ounces, the same amount allowed under HR 5483 which was introduced to the US Congress.

MEDICAL USE OF MARIJUANA HELPS PEOPLE AND SAVES LIVES.
The Criminalization of Marijuana Destroys Countless Lives and Families, Daily.

In light of the way that government is currently spying on people, I cannot divulge names of a family which has been victimized by the current marijuana laws which is ridiculously overzealous. A father came to see me about his 15 year old daughter, the nicest teenager you will ever meet, who almost died, had a brain tumor surgically removed and was undergoing chemotherapy. “I need some pot. I don’t smoke pot, so I hope you might have some, just so we can have her try it and see if it works. She’s not able to eat anything. She has terrible nausea, and cannot hold down any food. We’ve tried everything. She’s lost so much weight. The doctors, who are the best in the country, all agree that the best thing for her would be to smoke a little bit of pot.”

It would be a pretty good guess to turn to me. I’m a nature lover, have an education from a great university in a partying town, have worked some high stress positions, am always trying to do good things for people, am a freedom fighter and protester, ride motorcycles, am a hippy, or at least former hippy from long ago, and I play a sweet guitar. Despite all these stereotype indicators, the only probem is that I don’t smoke pot. I’ve been working government jobs, and have had government and corporate clearances, and they do, not just urinalysis, but also DNA snips of hair which can test your entire drug history from years gone by. Now, I am not going to tell you anything about the 70’s or 80’s, and I’m not going to insult your intelligence by saying such things as I didn’t inhale, even though that line seemed to work for President Clinton, but let’s just say that if I ever tried smoking pot, it was many, many years ago. I have no idea who to get any pot from. I wish that I did smoke pot, just so I could try and help out this wonderful family, and maybe help save a life.

Times being what they are, I can’t tell you anything else about this family except that there’s a chance that they were finally able to get some, and, if so, it probably saved their daughters life. She was finally able to start holding down food. She is still the sweetest of kids, and to my knowledge she does not currently smoke pot.
I know the story is lousy, because of so much missing info, but these are the times we are living in. They are crazy times of government spying on good Americans, and neighbors turning in neighbors for just looking at them the wrong way, making everyone suspect, and forces on the left want to help you live a moral life, while the forces on the right are trying to force you to live a moral life. I’m all for just letting you live your life. Period. Get rid of tons of government intervention. Bring back personal responsibility and individual rights, and tell the government to make a much smaller impact on your life.
