Electability is only an issue at election time, but since there are two other candidates in the race for NC Senate District 15, electability is important. A voter does not want to feel as though their vote will not count. Voters want a candidate who is ELECTABLE.
Jan MacKay wants all to know she is ELECTABLE.
Jan expects to do well with the FEMALE vote and the UNAFFILIATED vote.
The female vote is 54% of the total vote in NC Senate District 15. One out of every 4 registered voters are unaffiliated.
One in Four. According to FACTS ABOUT VIOLENCE, that is the same ratio as the number of women raped (or attempted rape) in college.
If Jan does well with these two major voting groups, she can win despite the numerous political ads on the television and radio you will see by her opponents. If elected to the $20K per year Senate job, one of the issues she will look at is campaign spending, because it seems unreasonable that people pay more than their annual salary to be elected. Of course, this will not make her a media darling, because the media likes candidates who spend serious money on campaign advertising. That is why she needs a good word of mouth campaign, and leaves it up to you.
Jan MacKay does not have a political machine behind her. Jan asks women to pass the word, from person to person, that she desparately needs the Female Vote. There is very good reason why it is important. Here are some startling statistics:
In North Carolina, 55% of the registered voters are female. In NC Senate District 15, 54% of the registered voters are female.
Yet, in the NC Senate, only 7 of the 50 State Senators are female. That is just 14%. Of the 31 NC Senate Democrats, only 6 are female. Of the 19 NC Senate Republicans, only 1 is female.
